WHY OFFER TUTORING?

I have found both great enjoyment and satisfaction from my physiotherapy career, with opportunities along the way to help others develop their skills. Being able to offer some support to those at the start of their journey is my way of helping others achieve the same satisfaction that being a physiotherapist has offered me.

WHY SO AFFORDABLE?

Last time I checked being a university student was a pretty expensive lifestyle, especially when studying limits the time available for paid work. I want to be able to offer support to any student that needed a little help, not just to the ones who can afford it. I keep my hourly rates as low as I can, so that as many who require support can access it. I aim for value for money. And value for you means success.

WHY SO ACCESSIBLE?

I aim to be as flexible with the sessions I offer as possible. That includes late cancellations or re-scheduling with no fee incurred. After a long day on placement or an influx of additional work from the course a planned session with may be the last thing that a student needs. I want you to get the most out of any session with me, therefore being in the right frame of mind and not overwhelmed by ‘life’ is important. We can always reschedule to a better, more convenient time when more benefit from the session can be achieved.

About me

Supporting individual learning and helping to achieve is my focus.

With over 25 years of varied experience I consider myself to be a highly effective and established physiotherapy practitioner.

I hold both a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy (1999) and a MSc Health and Social Care (2006) and am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and a registered member of the HCPC.

At the centre of my services are the specific needs of the student. I recognise that everyone has different needs and promote finding an approach which enables learning and subsequent achievement within assignments and studies.

Life can be pretty full on but at the core of what makes me tick is the ability to use my skills and knowledge to help others, whether that be with injury, movement disorders or on their own learning journey to become a physiotherapist. Alongside me, supporting me on a daily basis, is my husband without whom I wouldn’t be able to achieve half of what I do

Support available

Whatever your academic need – support is available.

From preparing for exams, consolidating knowledge, reflecting on placement, critically appraising research to completing dissertations, tailored support can help ease the overwhelm and enable success without the stress.

1:1 TUTORING

I offer private 1:1 tutoring, at reasonable rates, to assist with professional learning at level 3,4, undergrad and post grad. The affordable support for those developing their knowledge, skills and writing ability is offered so that it is accessible to students just needing a little extra help to maximise their success of their health care learning journey. The main courses that I have supported students on to date include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Nursing
  • Radiography
  • Paramedic Sciences

Content of sessions are bespoke for each learner but can include placement preparation and knowledge development, exam / OSCE preparation, functional and physiological anatomy, reflective practice, clinical reasoning and critical appraisal skills.

PROOF READING ASSIGNMENTS

Writing academic assignments can be a challenge. This is because it is a skills that needs to be developed through feedback and practice. Some learn it quicker than others and some benefit from bespoke support to help them develop their own style.

Skills within academic writing include the use of references within the text, being critical in the analysis of the literature, writing concisely in order to meet the word count requirement, using language that promotes the academic points that are being made.

When I review assignments for students I offer detailed feedback on how the work can be improved, advice on the phrasing or wording of the work, any references that are needed or issues with the format of the referencing.

A minimum of 24 hours is required for assignment review.

VIDEO CALL

Sessions are carried out over either MS Teams or Google Meet, with Google Meet offering the option of having the session recorded for your review at a later date, making taking notes or recalling all the details of the session a more manageable task.

DISSERTATION SUPPORT

Dissertations are a challenge for most students and where health care professionals are generally more practical people, the academic requirements can feel overwhelming at times.

Having many years experience of dissertations, both from my own efforts and from assisting other students, I am confident in being able to support health care students to a successful pass in this last hurdle of the degree – under and post grad.

She sent me some good articles that I can use for reference in my assignments after our meeting. I really appreciate her help.”

Rebecca has helped me so much throughout my university course, guiding me throughout my assignments and suggesting important research that I should explore. She is also very flexible with session times, very friendly and affordable for most students with little money.

Rebecca explained things in an easy and understandable way. I would highly recommend Rebecca for anyone who is struggling with their physiotherapy course.”
